SHIPPING & DOA POLICY

SHIPPING

Our customer’s peace of mind is our main priority. You can rest assured that we are looking out for your (and your coral’s) best interests.
Our facility is equipped with all of the essentials to pack your corals .
Each coral is placed in a 4 micron bag filled with the appropriate amount of water.
Then each bag is sealed with an aluminum fastener for a water-tight seal.
All the bags are then placed into insulated shipping containers to maintain consistent temperatures during transport.
We only ship using a 24 hours delivery service.
Heat or cold packs are also used if needed based on the weather the following morning in your region.

GOLD SHIPPING

Every coral on our site marked with a gold banner is subject to free shipping .
You can add as many other corals to your order as you like and still receive free shipping.

ACCLIMATION

All livestock should be acclimated to light and temperature upon receipt.

Temperature acclimation can be achieved by floating the newly-arrived bags in your aquarium as soon as they are delivered. Be sure to check the coral first for any anomalies or damage.
After temperature acclimating your corals, we suggest drip acclimating all items.
This can be done by using a coral-safe container. Put the coral together with the water in this container. Over a period of 10 minutes pour in some aquarium water until you have at least double the water volume than you had at the start.

All photosynthetic species should be slowly acclimated to your aquarium’s lighting environment. Too much light could bleach your new corals. Especially with the new generation LED fixtures.
If possible, set your lighting to an acclimation schedule.  Or place your coral low in your tank and move them up slowly to the desired height and light intensity over a longer period.

Caution. Corals can be poisonous. Always take care of yourself when handling these animals .
We cannot be held responsible for injuries caused by corals .

ZOANTHID & PALYTHOA HANDLING

Handle these animals with extreme care. Gloves, safety glasses, and a dust mask should be worn to lessen the chance of Palytoxin poisoning.

Also, never rub your eyes, mouth or nose during or after handling these animals. This is the most likely way for the toxin to enter your body. Once done handling you must wash your hands with soap and rinse well.

LPS & SPS

Do not touch the live tissue as the pressure applied when handling corals, plus the oils, etc. from your fingers, will damage your new precious additions.

Always handle the coral by the frag plug, or if a wild colony, the rock underneath the live skeleton.

DIPPING

We do not recommend dipping corals during or just after acclimation due to corals being stressed from shipping. This can cause irreversible damage to your recently shipped corals.

The number one contributor of deceased corals is improper dipping! This occurs due to improper techniques and timing. However, dipping corals is the right thing to do, but it’s important to time it properly to reduce additional stress on your new corals. We recommend that you wait 24 hours after adding your new corals to your reef to dip.

DOA

We guarantee that all livestock will arrive alive and as described. In the event of DOA (Dead On Arrival), we must be contacted within 2 hours of package delivery (UPS posted time), along with clear photos of the dead coral in the original bag or in the tank.
In the event that a buyer does not contact Reef-Corner online in the specified 2-hour time frame, Reef-Corner reserves the right to decline DOA coverage. Verified DOA’s will be fully credited towards future purchases (minus any shipping charges).

Cloudy water does not mean that your coral is dead.  Often the coral is not dead and will recover fine after such a harsh trip.

In the unfortunate event that a coral is dead on arrival, use the tab ‘ DOA request‘ from our web shop. There you will be able to fill in a complaint. You will also be asked to provide clear pictures taken under white light, so do not throw anything away.

We reserve the right to request the return of the dead coral and the original packaging within 1 week from your request.
